Home Safety Survey

WBFD Offers Home Safety Survey

The Mission of the Wrightsville Beach Fire Department (WBFD is to enhance the quality of life in our town through fire prevention, fire suppression, emergency medical services and protection from dangerous conditions created by man or nature.

One way that WBFD carries out our mission is by offering home safety surveys to residents of Wrightsville Beach.  Fire Department personnel will conduct home safety surveys upon request and by appointment.  The survey generally takes about a half-hour to complete.  These surveys are designed to help residents check their home for fire hazards.  Survey topics include heating, electrical, kitchen and smoking hazards as well as general fire safety practices.  Fire prevention is the main focus of the survey; however, fire department personnel can also assist with smoke alarm installation and maintenance, fire escape planning, fire extinguisher operation, burn prevention, and other fire safety concerns.

According to the U.S Fire Administration, 2840 Americans lost their lives in residential fires in 2021.  Residential fires kill more Americans than all natural disasters combined.  On average in the United States, someone dies in a fire about every 158 minutes, and someone is injured every 31 minutes.  Help us prevent fires by scheduling an appointment for a home safety survey today.  A little time spent on a home safety survey could prevent a tragedy.

To schedule a home safety survey, please call the Wrightsville Beach Fire Department at (910) 256-7920 or e-mail Acting Chief Matt Holland at mholland@towb.org.
