Fire Department

Our mission is to enhance the quality of life in Wrightsville Beach through fire prevention, fire suppression, emergency medical services and protection from dangerous conditions created by humankind or nature.

About

The Wrightsville Beach Fire Department is a combination of departments, consisting of both career and volunteer firefighters and the Ocean Rescue Squad. We respond to approximately 150 fire alarms and 450 emergency medical calls annually. We are proud to hold a Public Protection Classification of 4 (on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being a perfect score).

Volunteers & Interns

We continuously seek innovative, cost-effective methods of providing high quality emergency services. Our intern program is one notable example of this approach. Interns receive a free dormitory room in the fire station in exchange for their service as firefighters. The program strengthens the ranks of the fire department while cutting costs for college students.
