Facilities Maintenance Specialist

FACILITIES MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST

Starting Salary - $26,219

Performs responsible semi-skilled work in the maintenance and care of Town, buildings, streets, storm sewer, and related Town properties.

An employee in this class performs a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled tasks involving manual labor requiring the use of hand tools and light and medium equipment operation. Work involves installation, repair and inspection of, storm water systems; all street maintenance including asphalt repair and concrete repairs; building maintenance involving trade skills including electrical, plumbing, and related skills. The employee may be subject to OSHA's final standards on blood borne pathogens when cleaning public rest rooms. Operates heavy construction equipment, such as back hoes, dump trucks, etc.

Desirable Education and Experience

Graduation from high school and some related equipment operation or mechanical experience including some public contact experience.

Special Requirement

Possession of a valid appropriate North Carolina driver's license, NC-CDL is preferred.

Sanitation Worker

SANITATION WORKER
Starting Salary - $22,650

Performs responsible unskilled and manual tasks in operating the Sanitation Division of the Public Works Department. An employee in this class performs repairs to dumpsters, cleans and maintains the recycling center, and participates in the collection of residential garbage and curbside trash. Work involves medium to heavy manual labor, application of knowledge of sanitation policies and procedures, assisting the public, and making minor repairs to dumpsters and trash carts. The employee operates grinders, fork lift, front end loader and back hoe to load and move materials. The employee is subject to Level III OSHA Standards on blood borne pathogens. Work is performed independently under regular supervision of division management.

Desirable Education and Experience
Graduation from high school and some related equipment operation or mechanical experience including some public contact experience.

Special Requirement
Possession of a valid appropriate North Carolina driver's license, NC-CDL preferred.

Lifeguards

Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue is accepting applications for the 2010 summer lifesaving season.

Salary range from $9.25 to $10.75 per hour.

Applicants must:

• Pass pre-employment drug screening
• Participate in one of the tryouts
• Be 18 years of age or older
• Able to attend mandatory training start date of May 18th
• A valid driver’s license
• Ability to swim 500 meters in 10 minutes, or less.
• Ability to run 1 mile in 8 minutes or less

Our pre-test to obtain an interview will consist of the following:
Have an application on file with pre-test scheduled.
The pre-test will be administered on the following dates:

April 24, 2010 (Saturday)
May 2, 2010 (Sunday)

Meeting location and time: South side of Crystal Pier, located on the south end of WB.

Time:
0830 Hrs

Test will consist of the following:
½ mile ocean swim, followed by a one mile soft sand run, then two rescues. One will be an active victim the other a passive victim.

Applicants will work approx. 48hr workweek.
